The Volca Drum uses digital synthesis rather than sample playback, offering six parts with two layers each and flexible parameters for waveform, modulation, and envelope shaping. At the heart of its sound engine is a waveguide resonator that simulates the resonance of physical bodies like tubes and strings, adding dynamic, realistic movement and unique textures. From punchy electronic kicks to metallic hits and glitchy effects, this approach gives you deep, versatile sound design possibilities.

Intuitive sequencing and motion control

The 16-step sequencer makes building complex rhythms fast and intuitive, with real-time recording, step input, and motion sequencing to capture parameter changes over time. Performance features such as Active Step, pattern chaining, choke groups, and slice mode allow for creative grooves, live improvisation, and stutter-like effects, giving you full control over evolving beats.

Connectivity and integration

Volca Drum includes sync in/out ports for seamless integration with other Volca units, pocket operators, or modular gear, plus a MIDI input for external sequencing from your DAW or controllers.
