What does our woodwind expert think?

Playing the NUVOBand clarinet feels solid and responsive with pads that seal perfectly. The tone and response are reliable throughout all registers which makes for a remarkably enjoyable play, and the strong rubber bell achieves impressive resonance. A standard-sized barrel accommodates other branded French mouthpieces too, offering good versatility.

Durable, lightweight construction

At just 405g, it is considerably lighter than the equivalent student clarinets from brands such as Buffet, Jupiter and Yamaha - the Buffet Prodige comes in at 712g and the Jupiter JCL700 weights 742g! Constructed from a lightweight, durable engineering polymer blended for a high strength-to-weight ratio, the reduced weight of the clarinet ensures good posture for extended practice sessions among even the youngest, smallest players. Suitable for ages 5+, this clarinet is geared towards beginner players and can easily support learners all the way up to grade 5, so the lightness is brilliant for encouraging excellent playing habits.

The self-levelling silicone pads are designed for longevity and should never require adjustment, allowing you to continue enjoying your instrument for years to come. Integrated adjustable thumb rest and fast-action ligature

An integrated adjustable thumb rest caters to various hand sizes, again helping learners play for longer without their fingers getting too tired. Better still, the additional padding aids comfort without the need to purchase separate thumb cushions. The Bb-sized mouthpiece features a fast-action ligature, operable with one hand, which is compatible with NUVO Band reeds or traditional cane reeds.

Supporting regular practice

Research supports the effectiveness of frequent, short practice sessions, so each instrument includes a “Keep It Out” hanger, encouraging regular musical activity. Clean them effortlessly with hot soapy water, or for a quick clean between uses, spray with an appropriate woodwind disinfectant and wipe with a dry cloth. Perfect for shared or loaned instruments in school or band settings.

As a testament to its quality, each instrument is supplied with a 5-year parts warranty.
