The all-rounder's rosin
MMX Rosin is a versatile, light-coloured rosin designed for smooth, reliable performance across the string family. Suitable for violins, violas and cellos, it delivers a clear response and balanced grip that is ideal for all musicians.
Developed to complement MMX’s trusted orchestral strings, it applies evenly to minimise dust and residue while ensuring excellent bow traction and tone clarity on a wide range of string types.
Dark rosin
Good for cool weather, dark rosin is made from a soft resin that can otherwise become sticky in hot, humid weather, making it ideal for use in Winter and Autumn. It is also typically used with lower strings, cello and bass, as it is slightly softer and more appropriate for the lower instruments.
The D’Addario natural dark rosin is supplied with a unique plastic channel to give an easy grip when applying it. The Hidersine 6B double bass rosin is made in England and comes with a cloth, allowing you to keep your fingers clean. The AB violin or viola rosin comes supplied with a handy elasticated cloth wrapper, and it is an overall good quality basic rosin.
Light rosin
Made from a harder resin than dark rosin, light rosin is best suited for warm Summer and Spring weather, as it is less likely to become sticky in the heat. The lighter rosin is also a better fit for violins and violas.
Some of the light rosins available are the Hidersine 3V violin rosin, a medium size junior rosin which is made from a unique blend of waxes and fine resins and is presented in an easy to open box. The D’Addario natural light rosin is made from natural ingredients and is suitable for violin, viola, and cello bows. It’s also supplied in a plastic channel for easy grip when applying. The D’Addario Kaplan Artcraft light rosin is wrapped in felt and ideal for violin, viola, and cello. It comes in a traditional circular cake shape, allowing for an easy-to-use experience when applying to your bow.
Student rosin
Our range of student rosins are not only affordable but great quality, making them ideal for beginner string players and schools.
The Pirastro Eudoxa rosin produces a full, round sound and is especially suited for players that use “Eudoxa” and “Chorda” strings. The Kaplan KRDD premium dark rosin with case produces less dust than other brands of rosin and comes supplied in an attractive case. The Pirastro Evah Gold rosin aids powerful projection and bow response from the strings. The gold flecks increase grip and improves bow response. It also allows for powerful contact with the strings and enables clear articulation without harshness.
