Introducing Yamaha TransAcoustic pianos

Building on the flexibility of Yamaha's class leading Silent acoustic piano range, TransAcoustic allows you to mute the acoustic sound of the piano in the same way as a Silent Piano, but also control the volume without the need for headphones. Transducers affixed to the piano's soundboard generate the sound instead of the strings, using the soundboard as a natural amplifier. Taking advantage of the resonating, sound projecting design of an acoustic piano, the TransAcoustic piano produces a rich and complex piano sound with all the unique harmonic elements that are mostly missing in traditional digital pianos. Now one can practice whenever inspiration strikes, without worrying about the time or surroundings, while still owning a stunning Yamaha acoustic piano.

A selection of Yamaha acoustic piano models are available as a TransAcoustic piano, providing a suitable option for every environment and situation, from the industry standard practice upright model U1 to the performance quality C3X grand piano.Read more...

Benefits of a TransAcoustic piano

A fully acoustic piano with variable volume control

Switching to TransAcoustic mode silences the strings and utilises the built in sampled sound of Yamaha CFX and Bosendorfer Imperial concert grands, along with historic fortepiano voices and others. Control the volume while benefiting from the rich, resonant properties of an acoustic piano body and soundboard, or layer the digital sounds on top of the acoustic piano sound.

Great sound quality through headphones

As with Yamaha Silent pianos, plug in some headphones and completely silence the acoustic and TransAcoustic instrument, and hear the impressive sampled sound of the of Yamaha CFX and Bosendorfer Imperial concert grands, augmented by binaural sampling, Virtual Resonance Modelling and Grand Expression Modelling technologies.

Intuitive app-based user interface

Yamaha Smart Pianist opens up new ways to explore and make music. Serving as an intuitive and visual controller for the TransAcoustic piano's features and settings, app based technology eliminates the need for an unsightly control unit bolted onto the piano, and connects wirelessly via your home network. Smart Pianist also analyses tracks in your iTunes library and produces a chort chart or lead sheet, also displaying the score for built-in songs and tutorial pieces.

Record and review your progress

A single button press records your performance, which can be played back through the piano using the built-in piano voice, or stored as a .WAV file on a USB memory stick for transfer to a computer or taking to lessons.

Bluetooth connectivity

A TransAcoustic piano also connects to your smart devices via Bluetooth, enabling audio streaming to the piano. Play along with your favourite songs, or simply listen to music using the piano as a speaker.
