Built for ensemble playing, the Hammer Series provides a range of tuned steel pans that can be combined to create a complete school steel pan band.
Percussion Plus Hammer Series
The Hammer Series includes the main sections needed to build a steel pan ensemble, with lead pans, double second pans, double guitar pans, triple cello pans and six bass pans. The pans are manufactured and tuned in the USA by Panyard, with models designed to provide the different ranges and roles required in a steel pan band.
The Hammer Series class band pack brings together a lead pan, double second pans, triple cello pans and six bass pans, with stands, mallets and a selection of ensemble sheet music. The concert band pack expands this arrangement with two lead pans and two sets of double seconds, making it a practical option for establishing a larger school ensemble.
Steel pans for ensemble playing
Each Hammer Series pan has a defined role within the ensemble. The lead pan provides a chromatic 29-note range from C4 to E6, while the double second pans use two 15-note whole-tone layouts to provide a combined chromatic range from F3 to Bb5. The double guitar, triple cello and six bass models extend the range of the ensemble into lower registers.
Complete steel pan packs
For schools starting or expanding a steel pan programme, the Hammer Series packs bring several sections together with the stands, mallets and ensemble materials needed to get playing. Individual pans are also available for expanding an existing setup or replacing a particular section.
