About tubular bells

Tubular bells are percussion instruments that were originally crafted to duplicate the sound of church bells when played. Often, you can even attach a sustain pedal to extend the ringing of the bells, or they can be bowed at the bottom of the tube to create a loud, high-pitched note. Tubular bells aren’t always used as a melodic instrument and are rather played to add vibrancy and colour to a performance. Other names for the instrument include chimes, orchestra bells, orchestral chimes, and tubular chimes.
