What is a condenser microphone?

The term “condenser” microphone refers to its transducer principle, i.e how it converts the signal from one form of energy to another. Condenser microphones are constructed so that the diaphragm acts as one plate of a capacitor, and the vibrations across the plates are converted into electrical signals, which can be converted into sound. Due to being more sonically sensitive than dynamic mics, they are ideal for recording vocals and acoustic instruments, making them great additions to your school music department for recording student performances.
