Whistles and calls provide distinctive sounds for music, sound effects, performances and practical use. This collection brings together a wide range of whistles, bird calls and specialist sound-effect instruments for schools, ensembles, orchestras and individual players.

The collection includes Acme whistles covering a particularly broad range of uses. Traditional whistles such as police and Thunderer designs provide clear, projecting sounds, while the Acme samba whistle is designed for use in samba and Latin percussion groups. There are also more specialist options, including the Acme 472 Swanee slide whistle, which can be used to explore changing pitch and create familiar sound effects.

Bird calls form another important part of the collection, with different instruments designed to imitate particular birds. Options include the Acme 446 cuckoo call, Acme 259 crow and rook call, Acme 499 nightingale call and Acme 500 pigeon and dove call, providing realistic sounds for orchestral pieces, school performances, recordings and wildlife-related activities. Percussion Plus also offers bird-call instruments, including bamboo and ceramic designs.

The range also includes specialist and utility whistles, from shepherd's lip whistles and sports-style whistles to larger brass Thunderer models. This makes the collection useful not only for percussion and music departments, but also for productions, demonstrations and activities where a distinctive or highly projecting sound is required.
