Introducing the Percussion Plus Honestly Made Bamboo bird whistle

This slide whistle from the Percussion Plus Honestly Made range is a naturally made instrument, mimicking the high-pitched warbles of birds. Made in Thailand from sustainably sourced bamboo, it is a great value instrument for the classroom, music therapy sessions, or just for fun.

To play, blow into the tip and slide the stick up and down to change pitch. Slide slowly for a classic comic sound effect, or rapidly to produce a chirp like bird sound. And if you are really skilled, it is even possible to play a tune!

Sustainably sourced bamboo

By using a fast-growing material such as bamboo, the production of these whistles prevents lasting damage to established hardwood forests. It also helps to keep the costs down to ensure the best value possible.



Our sustainable packaging

We use as little packaging as possible for our Honestly Made products, but where it’s needed, we’ve chosen I’m Green renewable polythene – a carbon-neutral material that’s 95% renewable and fully recyclable. Some items may still arrive with our previous biodegradable packaging as we strive to use up existing materials, but whichever form it takes, it’s all part of our effort to reduce waste and supply sustainably.




Percussion Plus Honestly Made products are manufactured in independent family workshops that are too small to join Fair Trade groups or are located in countries that do not have such organisations. These suppliers and their subsidiaries all follow Fair trade principles which include:

  • Agreeing a fair price Use of recycled materials
  • Paying significant amounts upfront
  • Being loyal and reasonable in all dealings
  • Prioritising smaller suppliers over large factories
  • Manufacturing methods that do not damage the environment

The packaging of the (10) swannee whistles was great , double wrapped etc and swift delivery. The products themselves were keenly priced which was the deciding factor in me buying 10 of them as “giveaways” for local kids after I had bought myself a more expensive £10+ Swanee whistle. I very much appreciate that these would have been cheaply made in the likes of Thailand (?) to help the local economy, so I feel a little churlish to say that the workability of the whistles was frankly rubbish. Never mind , no real harm done other than if a kid had bought these for himself and what landed was these …no matter how cheap. I would certainly use this firm again as it was only the flimsy , non-working whistles that let them down , …the cost was so low as to be negligible so not worth causing a fuss about.
