Introducing the John Packer JP163 Student Compensating Bb/F French Horn
Designed with younger musicians and first-time players in mind, the JP163 Bb/F compensating French horn offers a lightweight option with access to both the Bb and F sides of the instrument.
Outstanding Features for Beginner Players
As well as the compensating system providing seamless access to both the Bb and F sides, the JP163 incorporates several high-quality components typically found in more expensive French horns. The mechanical (ball and socket) linkage ensures a response playing action and the finger hook and ducks foot can be easily adjusted for a comfortable grip. The yellow brass build makes the instrument durable, capable of lasting young students through their progression learning the French Horn.
What is a compensating horn?
Compensating horns, positioned between single and double horns, serve as a transitional option for players upgrading from single horns. Featuring a 3-valve single 'Bb' horn with an additional 4th or 'thumb' valve to access the 'F' side, these horns provide the extended range of a double horn while maintaining a reduced overall weight, allowing players to learn the use of the 4th valve lever.
