Yamaha make some of the finest upright pianos in the world, and done so for decades. Our range of Yamaha uprights comprises pre-owned, reconditioned and new offerings; a wonderful variety of instruments.
Yamaha’s entry-level upright pianos are made in Indonesia and include the compact b1 (109 cm), traditional-style b2 (113 cm) with a solid spruce soundboard, and b3 (121 cm) which shares components with the professional U1. They offer good tone, responsive action and excellent value, with the b3 being a budget-friendly alternative to the U1.
Built in Japan for over 50 years, the U Series is a global standard for practice and performance, comprising the U1 (121 cm) and taller U3 (131 cm). The U1 offers refined features and balanced proportions, while the U3 provides enhanced resonance and projection comparable to a small grand piano.
Based on U Series frames but handcrafted in Yamaha’s concert grand workshops, YUS models feature mahogany hammers, lamb’s wool felt, and hand-wound copper bass strings for richer tone. The YUS5 adds an opening front panel, longer keys, synthetic ivory keytops, and extra pedals for premium touch and projection.
Yamaha’s P Series pianos are aimed at the European and UK market, and are built in their modern manufacturing facility in Indonesia. The most important differences between the P and U Series are a softer and more “European” tone produced by an Austrian spruce ‘Strunz’ soundboard, a European style voicing of the hammers and softer styling with more rounded edges than the angular U1 and U3.
The SU118C and SU7 are Yamaha’s finest uprights, fully handcrafted with premium materials and exceptional attention to detail. The SU7 (131 cm) matches top U and YUS models in size but delivers unmatched refinement, long grand-piano-length keys, and luxurious finishes.
