The annual music conference for schools in the FOBISIA organisation (Federation of British International Schools in Asia) took place in Bangkok from 26 to 28 September.
It was hosted by Denla British School (DBS), and over 100 music teacher delegates attended, immersing themselves in seminars, group discussions and also in performances, as both audience and performers. The facilities at DBS are truly amazing, with a superb concert hall, suite of music rooms, and everything else needed to facilitate such a large group of teachers, eager to learn and to share. Students from the school led by the school music team of Jon Ang, James Gower and Robyn Wynn provided inspirational performances throughout the 3 day event.
There were keynote addresses by Kate Smith, Filipe Sousa, Naveen Arles and Jim Frankel, all bringing challenging and informative messages, in some cases through practical participation by the attending delegates.
As usual, we at Chamberlain Music organised the popular prize draw on the final day of the competition, coordinating prizes from the other affiliate members attending, as well as a range of items from our supplier partners.
Diamond sponsor ABRSM, togther with Sing Up, Collins, Music EDNet, RockSchool and Music FIrst also contributed to the draw.
The supplier partners who provided generous support through Chamberlain Music in the form of prizes included:
- PreSonus
- Sontronics microphones
- Audio Technica
- D'Addario
- InMusic
- AVSL
Lucky music teachers left with microphones, headphones, software, instruments and many other items. Some of them were Chamberlain Music's own products, both those that we manufacture and distribute, including Octopus ukuleles, Slap Djembes, Nuvo instruments and Recorder Workshop fifes.
Next year's conference will take place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam at the British International School.
