Yamaha intermediate model
The YTS480 is a level above Yamaha's student 280 saxophone and its tonal quality is comparable to much higher-end models. Its main feature is a '62 style' neck which has a slightly narrower bore for improved response and greater control over the sound.
Furthermore, thanks to the redesigned octave key system, the option is there for advanced players to switch between the 62 neck (included) and a 'Custom Z' or 'CustomEX' neck (sold separately - please call for price & availability).
The intonation on the 480 is outstandingly accurate as with all Yamaha instruments and famously so. What we particularly like about this model is that it is comparatively lightweight and durable, making it ideal for use in the school environment and a great option for young players or travelling professionals.
Constructed using yellow brass, finished with a clear lacquer and dotted with pearly white polyester keys, this instrument looks smart and elegant. It boasts a new improved B-C# connection to ensure the keys are sealed properly and the lower register responds well. It also features separate key guards with adjustable screw cap toppers and a left hand 'seesaw' key for ease of playability.
What's in the box?
The saxophone is supplied in a lightweight, semi-hard case with rucksack straps. It includes a quality Yamaha 4C mouthpiece, ligature, cap and polishing cloth.
Each saxophone sold here at Chamberlain Music is subjected to a detailed set-up. The instrument is also play tested prior to dispatch which ensures that it will be ready to play straight from the case.
