John Broadwood & Sons is one of Britain's oldest and most distinguished piano manufacturers, with a history dating back to the 18th century. The company's instruments were favoured by legendary composers including Beethoven, Chopin and Liszt, while its pioneering innovations helped shape the development of the modern piano throughout the 19th century.
The St James is one of Broadwood's compact upright models, designed to offer excellent musical performance in a practical domestic cabinet. This particular piano was manufactured around 1981 and has been privately owned from new. It is presented in excellent condition, having been fully serviced by our technicians, and is supplied with a two-year warranty for complete peace of mind.
Finished in an elegant mahogany veneer with brass fittings, the St James features a modern-style cabinet design and is fitted with castors for easy positioning. Its full 88-note, medium-weight keyboard offers a responsive touch, while the tone is notably warmer and more mellow than many modern Yamaha or Kawai uprights, with a rich, singing tenor register and a pleasingly rounded overall character.
