How our reviews work

  • A few days after your order ships we'll email you a link to leave a review. When your feedback is published it will carry a Customer verified badge, so others know it came from a real order with us.
  • We only ever edit a review to remove profanity, spam, or personal details - otherwise it's published exactly as written, good or bad. We won’t ever remove or edit critical ones.
  • You don't need to have bought a product from us to review it - if you know the product, we want you to let other shoppers know what you honestly think, using the form on the product page. These are moderated in the same way, but won't carry our Customer verified badge.

Stentor double bass mute - Tourte rubber

The Stentor Tourte rubber double bass mute is a practical accessory for reducing and softening the sound of a double bass when a muted tone is required. Its compact sliding design makes it quick to put in place or remove, making it useful for chamber music, orchestral playing and personal practice.

Easy to fit

The mute has a slit in the side that allows it to be fitted over the string without removing the strings from the instrument. Once fitted, it can remain on the double bass and be moved into position when required.

Softer, more muted tone

When engaged, the Tourte mute sits across the bridge and dampens the instrument's sound, producing a quieter and softer character. This makes it useful when a muted passage is required in chamber or orchestral music, as well as for personal practice.

Practical removal

A small pin on the top of the mute provides a convenient grip for sliding it down the strings when the mute is no longer required. This allows players to switch between muted and unmuted playing without having to remove the accessory completely.
