Making a home studio is tough. Most rooms and spaces do not have acoustic dampening required for optimal sound and your recordings can often have background ambience and unwanted noise. This is where the SE RF-PRO shines. Designed to sit on a mic stand, the padding material smooths the sound that the mic is picking up, creating a similar effect to that of a sound booth. Once you have your good, dry sound on your vocal or instrumental recording, you can add any effects you may want in post without having to worry about removing excess noise.
How does it work?
When you put a microphone in front of you, it doesn't just hear you - it hears the room around you.
Even if it's a cardioid mic and is listening mostly to just you, it's still picking up reflections from your voice or instrument that are bouncing off the walls and coming back to the mic. The goal of acoustic treatment is to minimize the pickup of such reflections so your primary sound source comes through as pure as possible.
So why not just put some cardboard or foam behind the mic?
Some materials are good at absorbing or reflecting particular frequencies - for example, foam absorbs highs really well, but does nothing for lows.

In 2016, SE completely redesigned the RF Pro's mounting hardware to increase stability, simplify ease of use, and provide an updated level of performance, durability, and aesthetics.
It allows panning and tilting for maximum flexibility, and all moving parts are chromatized to ensure low wear.
