This is a brilliant value drum pad. Its well made and offers a surprisingly realistic drum-like feel. The plastic rim is sturdy and the whole thing is tunable. Many teachers, as a very first step, recommend the purchase of a practice pad for those just starting. It is an inexpensive way for an aspiring drummer to make those first rhythms. Equally, the more experienced often have a practice pad for developing and maintaining technique and improving stick work.
