Introducing the Percussion Play Bug-Beats flower beetle
Explore the fun of Bug-Beats, each bursting with vibrant colours. This large flower beetle is designed to produce lively sounds that inspire children to unleash their creativity while enjoying the outdoors. There’s also a medium-sized honey beetle and small leaf beetle available.
These playful instruments can accommodate players of all ages and abilities, and they feature wings made from strong, reinforced hollow polymer, designed like temple blocks, and equipped with notches to create a sensory, ridged surface. As idiophones, they produce sound through the instrument's vibration, with each block's internal space serving as a resonating chamber. When you strike these colourful blocks with a mallet, they generate a fun, loud, echoing sound. Additionally, you can scrape the mallet along the notches to create a sound similar to that of a güiro.
These bugs can be mounted on a stainless-steel post or installed using fixings that can be retrofitted to other outdoor instruments, play equipment, fences, and walls. Spark discussions about the natural world and add vibrant sound to your gardens all year long!
Get everyone involved
This inclusive play equipment looks and sounds amazing, especially with a combination of other outdoor instruments, and it provides multi-generational fun. These musical beetles support SEND learning by helping to improve hand-eye coordination, listening skills, and motor skills in an interactive and engaging way. It’s also at a height that makes it accessible for young children and those who use a wheelchair, which is great for those that want to start or continue to enjoy the experience of creating music.

Surface mounted vs Ground install
There are two ways to install this Percussion Play product:
Surface mounted
The leg is attached to a base plate, which is then fixed into the ground using anchors. This provides a brilliant level of stability, whilst making it possible to move the product around with relative ease.
Ground install
The leg is directly embedded into the ground, providing excellent, long-lasting stability. However, once placed, the instrument will be very hard to move - perfect for permanent installations.
