The Novation FLkey 2 range is a series of MIDI keyboard controllers designed specifically for FL Studio, giving hands-on control over instruments, patterns, the Channel Rack, mixer and plugins. Available with 25, 37, 49 or 61 keys, the range combines keyboard control with 16 velocity-sensitive RGB pads, eight endless encoders, dedicated FL Studio controls and an OLED display.

Each FLkey 2 model provides the same core FL Studio workflow, including Scale and Chord modes, an arpeggiator with step editor, Pattern control and direct access to important software functions. The different sizes allow the controller to be matched to the available workspace and playing requirements, from the compact FLkey Mini 25 with mini-keys to the 49- and 61-key models with semi-weighted keybeds and additional mixing controls.

Designed for FL Studio

Officially supported by Image-Line, FLkey 2 provides direct hardware control over key FL Studio functions. The 16 RGB pads can be used for step sequencing in the Channel Rack, triggering samples and instruments, creating and duplicating Patterns, and finger drumming with compatible FL Studio instruments and plugins. Their colour-coded feedback helps show sequences and the software functions being controlled.

The eight endless encoders provide hands-on control over FL Studio's mixer, Channel Rack and plugins, with automatic mapping designed to keep important parameters accessible from the keyboard. The OLED display provides visual feedback without requiring users to continually look back at the computer screen. FLkey 2 also supports Native Kontrol Standard (NKS), providing two-way control with compatible Native Instruments plugins and other NKS-supported software.

Keys and creative tools

The four models offer different keyboard configurations to suit different production setups. The FLkey Mini 25 has 25 synth-action mini-keys for a compact two-octave controller, while the FLkey 37 provides 37 full-size synth-action keys. The FLkey 49 and FLkey 61 use semi-weighted piano-style keys and provide four and five octaves respectively, giving more space for playing melodies, chords and bass lines.

All four models include Scale Mode with 30 built-in scales, alongside Chord Map, Fixed Chord and User Chord modes. The arpeggiator includes a step editor for developing rhythmic and melodic patterns, while octave controls allow the available keyboard range to be extended when required.

Choose the right FLkey 2 size

The FLkey Mini 25 is the most compact option, using mini-keys and touch strips for pitch and modulation. It is designed for portable setups and has the essential FL Studio controls without the larger models' additional workflow buttons.

The FLkey 37 adds full-size keys, pitch and modulation wheels and more dedicated FL Studio controls, while retaining a relatively compact format. It is also the smallest model with full-size keys. The FLkey 49 and FLkey 61 add semi-weighted keybeds, nine precision faders and keyboard split and layer functions. These larger models provide more physical control for mixing and allow two instruments to be played across separate keyboard zones, making them suited to more extensive production and performance setups.

All four models include a sustain pedal input and USB-C connection and are USB bus powered. The Mini 25 uses a 3.5mm MIDI output, while the 37, 49 and 61 use a full-size 5-pin MIDI output for connecting compatible external MIDI equipment.
