These are the same strings that are fitted to our My School Ukulele soprano and My School Ukulele slim body soprano instruments, now available to purchase as replacements or to upgrade on your existing ukulele stock. These strings are exceptionally good value too, saving valuable department budget resources whilst refreshing the sound of your uke club!
Perfect for beginners and experienced players alike, this standard gauge set includes four strings (G, C, E, A) to fit all soprano ukuleles. Standard soprano ukuleles use re-entrant tuning, where the strings are not ordered from lowest to highest pitch. This set is consistent with that convention and features high G tuning. As a result, the G and A strings are very similar thickness, while the C is the thickest and the E also slightly thicker than G and A.
My School Ukulele instruments feature a tie-block bridge, and these strings are designed for this type of bridge fitting. To fit a new string, start by passing the string through the hole in the bridge. You will need the longer end of the string to be on the headstock side of the bridge i.e. facing up the instrument with only say 7cm max sticking through the bottom of the bridge. To tie the knot on the bridge, wrap the short end of the string around the longer end and then pass the string around itself twice. Holding the short end against the bridge with your finger, you can now pull the long end to tighten and secure the knot. Next, thread the string through the hole in the tuning peg post and wind using the geared machine head tuner. The strings on either side (left and right) should be a mirror image of each other when attached to the tuning pegs, curving out towards either side of the headstock.
