The BOSS IR-2 is a compact pedal designed to deliver complete guitar amp and cabinet tones in a simple, pedalboard-friendly format. Whether used for recording, live performance or practice, it provides a consistent and controlled sound without the need for a traditional amplifier.
The IR-2 includes 11 different amp types, covering a range of classic and modern sounds. Each amp is paired with high-quality Celestion Digital impulse responses, allowing you to achieve a polished tone quickly without complex setup. You can also load your own cabinet IRs via USB-C using the dedicated desktop app.
A straightforward control layout makes it easy to adjust your sound, with familiar amp-style controls for level, gain and EQ, plus an ambience control for added depth. The built-in send/return loop allows you to place modulation, delay and reverb effects after the amp section, with support for stereo operation via the return input.
The IR-2 can be connected directly to a PA system or recording setup, making it suitable for live performance without a traditional amp. A headphone output supports silent practice, while USB-C connectivity allows you to record directly into music software or play along with audio from a computer or mobile device.
