The Kawai GL-30 is a superb 5'5" (166 cm) baby grand, combining renowned Japanese craftsmanship with a rich, expressive tone and beautifully responsive touch.

Built at Kawai’s main piano factory in Japan, the GL-30 features premium materials, refined construction and an expertly developed scale design, offering a significant step up in refinement from the GL-10 and GL-20.

Kawai’s acclaimed Millennium III action, with ABS-Carbon components, delivers exceptional sensitivity, precision and repetition for a fluid and expressive playing experience.

With its warm, clear tone, impressive depth and elegant projection, the GL-30 offers the character and presence of a considerably larger grand while retaining a compact footprint—an excellent choice for the discerning home, studio or intimate performance space.

Millennium III Action

The ground-breaking Millennium III Action utilises components made of ABS-Carbon—a composite material infused with carbon fibre. ABS-Carbon is incredibly strong and rigid, meaning that GL Series action parts can be made lighter without sacrificing strength. The result is a stronger, faster action that offers more power, better control and greater stability than conventional all-wood actions.

Tapered, solid spruce soundboard

The purpose of the soundboard is to transform the vibrations of the piano’s strings into a rich, resounding tone. Kawai uses only straight-grained, quarter-sawn solid spruce for GL Series soundboards. Each one is strategically tapered to provide the optimum degree of resonant movement in each region. Only soundboards that meet or exceed our demanding resonance standards are selected for use in the GL Series grand pianos.

Soft-closing fallboard

While the entry-level model in the grand piano range, the Kawai GL-10 also benefits from a soft-closing lid or fallboard. A luxurious feature previously only high end instruments and means no more trapped fingers!

Stretcher Overlap Integrated Design (SOLID)

SOLID construction creates an exceptionally rigid foundation to support string tension. First, the pinblock is fitted to the plate. Then, the pinblock and over-lapping stretcher bar are integrated into a single structure and solidly anchored to the rim. The extraordinary thickness of the stretcher bar highlights the structural integrity of this framework designed to ensure stable tuning and powerful tone.
