Kawai GL-10 grand piano

Introducing the Kawai GL-10 Baby Grand Piano

The Kawai GL-10 is the smallest grand piano in Kawai’s range, offering exceptional value without compromising on the quality, craftsmanship or components for which Kawai pianos are renowned.

At just 5'1" in length, the GL-10 combines compact dimensions with impressive performance. Its solid, tapered spruce soundboard delivers a rich and responsive tone, while the same carbon-fibre-infused ABS action components found in Kawai’s larger, more expensive grand pianos provide outstanding precision, control and long-term stability and accuracy. Underfelted mahogany hammers further enhance its tonal character and responsiveness, making the GL-10 an exceptional piano in its class.

Practical refinements include a music desk adjustable for both reach and angle, together with an elegant soft-closing fallboard.

Our best-selling acoustic piano, the Kawai GL-10 strikes an outstanding balance between specification, performance and price. It is always in stock and on display, ready for you to experience and compare alongside the Yamaha GB1K.

Also available with ATX4 Anytime Technology - allowing you to play silently, using headphones, any time of day or night.

Millennium III Action

The ground-breaking Millennium III Action utilises components made of ABS-Carbon—a composite material infused with carbon fibre. ABS-Carbon is incredibly strong and rigid, meaning that GL Series action parts can be made lighter without sacrificing strength. The result is a stronger, faster action that offers more power, better control and greater stability than conventional all-wood actions.

Tapered, solid spruce soundboard

The purpose of the soundboard is to transform the vibrations of the piano’s strings into a rich, resounding tone. Kawai uses only straight-grained, quarter-sawn solid spruce for GL Series soundboards. Each one is strategically tapered to provide the optimum degree of resonant movement in each region. Only soundboards that meet or exceed our demanding resonance standards are selected for use in the GL Series grand pianos.

Soft-closing fallboard

While the entry-level model in the grand piano range, the Kawai GL-10 also benefits from a soft-closing lid or fallboard. A luxurious feature previously only high end instruments and means no more trapped fingers!

Stretcher Overlap Integrated Design (SOLID)

SOLID construction creates an exceptionally rigid foundation to support string tension. First, the pinblock is fitted to the plate. Then, the pinblock and over-lapping stretcher bar are integrated into a single structure and solidly anchored to the rim. The extraordinary thickness of the stretcher bar highlights the structural integrity of this framework designed to ensure stable tuning and powerful tone.
