The Yamaha FC4A is a piano-style sustain pedal designed for digital pianos, keyboards, synthesizers and stage pianos. Its substantial foot pedal design provides a feel closer to that of an acoustic piano, making it a useful choice for players who want a more familiar pedal response from an electronic instrument.
The FC4A can be used to sustain notes while playing piano sounds, and its functionality can also be assigned to other switch-controlled functions on compatible Yamaha instruments. A rubber underside helps keep the pedal securely in place during playing.
The FC4A is designed to reproduce the feel of an acoustic piano pedal rather than the lighter action of a basic footswitch. This makes it particularly useful for digital piano players who want a more substantial pedal beneath the foot for practice and performance.
The pedal provides conventional sustain control when connected to a compatible instrument's sustain input. Yamaha also offers the FC3A separately for instruments where half-pedalling is required, so the FC4A is best suited to setups that require straightforward sustain control.
A rubber underside helps prevent the FC4A from slipping across the floor while it is being used. This is particularly useful when the pedal is placed on smooth flooring and allows players to concentrate on their playing rather than repositioning the pedal.
Its piano-style construction also makes it a practical alternative to smaller keyboard footswitches when a more substantial pedal is preferred.
On compatible instruments, the FC4A can be assigned to switch functions beyond sustain. This allows the pedal to be used to activate a selected function or setting without taking a hand away from the keyboard, giving the player additional control during performance.

The Yamaha FC4 Sustain pedal is just right for the Tyros keyboard. It's very slim and fits very neatly under the keyboard. And it does exactly what it says on the tin!
