The Yamaha DTX6K5-M is an electronic drum kit with large mesh drum pads, responsive cymbals and Yamaha's DTX-PRO sound module. Its 12-inch snare and three 10-inch toms provide generous playing surfaces, while the included Yamaha hi-hat stand allows you to set up the kit in a familiar position. It's suited to drummers who want a detailed playing response and a wide range of sounds for practice, recording or playing with other musicians.
The snare and tom pads use two-ply mesh heads developed with Remo, offering a responsive rebound and helping to reduce the noise of playing compared with acoustic drum heads. Their larger diameters also give you more room to play naturally around the kit.
The crash and ride cymbals respond to different playing areas, including the bow, edge and cup, and can be choked by hand. The ride also uses positional sensing, so its sound changes depending on where you strike it. These features give you more control over your cymbal playing and let you practise techniques used on an acoustic kit.
The DTX-PRO module includes acoustic drum sounds recorded in professional studios, alongside a range of other kit sounds. Three Kit Modifier controls let you adjust the ambience, compression and effects to change the character of a sound without having to navigate through menus.
You can also adjust individual sounds and save your own kit settings, making it easier to find the right balance for different styles of music, whether you're practising on your own or playing along with a band.
The module includes 10 training functions, a programmable metronome and 37 training songs to help you work on timing and accuracy. USB connectivity lets you send audio and MIDI data to a compatible computer, and the included Cubase AI download provides software for recording, editing and mixing music.
The kit comes with Yamaha's RS6 electronic drum rack and HS650A hi-hat stand, providing the hardware needed to set up the pads and cymbals in a familiar playing position.
