Mounted on the cellos string, the original Götz wolf note eliminator doesn't require any adjustment or thumb screws. The tension in the cello string holds the wolf note eliminator securely in place.
Wolf notes occur when the resonant frequency of a particular string (vibrating in motion) and the resonant frequency of the vibrating body of the cello interact and clash with each other and produce a thumping note while playing. These wolf note suppressors are made to absorb the vibrational energy at the critical frequency and eliminates the wolf note.
