Mounted on the cellos string, the original Götz wolf tone eliminator doesn't require any adjustment or thumb screws. The tension in the cello string holds the wolf tone eliminator securely in place.
Wolf tones occur when the resonant frequency of a particular string (vibrating in motion) and the resonant frequency of the vibrating body of the cello interact and clash with each other and produce a thumping tone while playing. These wolf note suppressors are made to absorb the vibrational energy at the critical frequency and eliminates the wolf tone.
