How our reviews work

  • A few days after your order ships we'll email you a link to leave a review. When your feedback is published it will carry a Customer verified badge, so others know it came from a real order with us.
  • We only ever edit a review to remove profanity, spam, or personal details - otherwise it's published exactly as written, good or bad. We won’t ever remove or edit critical ones.
  • You don't need to have bought a product from us to review it - if you know the product, we want you to let other shoppers know what you honestly think, using the form on the product page. These are moderated in the same way, but won't carry our Customer verified badge.

The Halilit clatterpillar

The clatterpillar instrument makes an amazing clickety clack sound that changes as you play, from a gentle ripple to a clattering crescendo. Using an up and down movement with each hand makes the segments click against each other to create waves of sound. Trying different speeds will soon see your movements turned into rhythm!

These musical toys are the perfect introduction to the sensory world of music-making. Made from high-quality materials, they create endless possibilities to improve children’s skills, creativity, and abilities. This range is a safe and educational choice for the developing early childhood years.

Teach your toddler about rhythm

The variety of sounds that this instrument can produce makes it a great way to develop a child’s rhythm, coordination, and listening skills, as well as their motor skills and hand-eye co-ordination. They can also be played as part of a group music session, giving young children a fun way to get involved and helping them to improve their social skills too.

Cultural origins

A Kokiriko is a traditional Japanese percussion instrument with bamboo slats held together with a leather strap which produces a sound sometimes described as similar to dominoes falling as the slats strike one another. When played it can produce a crisp and loud sound and is normally played by holding the handle in each hand and using up and down movements either slowly or fast to produce different sounds to create an interesting variety of rhythmic effects.

About Halilit

Great for all ages

Overall an original and fun instrument which appeals to players of all ages and a great addition to the percussion bag. A smaller alternative, the Percussion Plus plastic kokiriko is also available as well as the Percussion Plus wooden kokiriko, which is a traditional Kokiriko made of wood.
