Introducing the used Challen GP142 baby grand c.2001
Challen was one of the most prolific British piano manufacturers, particularly during the early part of the 20th Century. Their 4’6” baby grand was a hugely popular choice and thousands of instruments found their way into homes, schools and churches – anywhere a good, solidly built baby grand was needed, with many still in service today.
Although no longer in production here in the UK, the legacy of the Challen baby grand lives on. Our pre-owned Challen GP142 also measures 142cm, or 4’6” long, making it about the smallest grand piano on the market today, and it produces a remarkably powerful tone for an instrument of such a compact size. It was manufactured by Pearl River, the worlds largest and most modern production facility, with an engineered spruce soundboard, European parts and a distinctively English style voicing. Despite being a baby grand it has a full size 88 note keyboard, with three pedals including full sosenuto for selective sustain.
The piano has been privately owned since new in 2001, coming to us in part exchange, and freshly serviced by our workshop technicians including action servicing, voicing and regulation, casework polishing and of course tuning. In super condition throughout and a great choice of compact baby grand, ready for swift delivery.
