The Tom & Will factory have spend a considerable time redesigning their oboes cases and their latest range combines a very high quality and stylish finish along with supreme longevity. The design is intended for all English thumb plate systems and conservatiore oboes by well known manufacturers such as Howarth or Yamaha among others.
This particular case is produced in a scratch resistant grey fabric which is then double stitched together and finished off with custom designed, die-cast zips. The whole process has been targeted towards making these cases strong enough to last the rigors of school transport, tour buses, school practice rooms and storage cupboards.
The interior case is precisely moulded and provides a snug protective environment for each part of your oboe, there is also room for the obvious accessories like cork grease and reeds. The upper portion of the case is made from a deep, plush, padded fabric which, when the case shuts, moulds to the individual contours of your instrument. The front pocket of the case provides plenty of room for more accessories and personal items whilst the large pocket on the back of the case provides ample room for sheet music. There is also 4 metal feet for extra stability should the case be placed on a shelf or table.
There are a couple of ways that you can carry around your case in comfort - you can sling the padded strap over your shoulder (it's quite safe to do this, the D-rings are chunky and robust, and the clips to attach the strap are hard-wearing). If you wanted to carry it by hand, then the strong fabric handles are bound together with a fold-over velcro fastening.
Taking the instrument out of the case (and returning it after playing) is very simple, as the zips are free-flowing and the die-cast metal zip pullers are strong and easy to grip. The zip opens around 3 of the 4 sides of the case.
These cases are brilliant, much better than many of the standard factory cases and a sure to be very popular indeed
