The Tascam DR-40XP is a compact four-track handheld recorder designed for musicians, videographers and content creators who need reliable, high-quality audio on the move. Combining built-in stereo microphones with professional XLR inputs, it offers a flexible solution for both simple recordings and more advanced setups.
With 32-bit float recording at sample rates up to 96 kHz, the DR-40XP captures clean, detailed audio without the need to carefully set input levels. This makes it particularly useful in unpredictable recording environments, helping to avoid distortion and preserve dynamic range.
The integrated stereo condenser microphones can be adjusted between A-B and X-Y configurations, allowing you to tailor the stereo image depending on the situation. Two XLR/TRS combo inputs with phantom power support external microphones or line-level sources, and can be used alongside the built-in mics for four-track recording.
Compact and easy to operate, the DR-40XP is well suited to location recording, interviews and live performances. Features such as overdubbing, a low-cut filter, built-in reverb and a chromatic tuner provide additional flexibility, while long battery life supports extended recording sessions.
