Introducing the Kawai CA-401 digital piano

The CA401 is the first model in Kawai’s Concert Artist series, and the represents a significant step up in authenticity over the CN301. Unlike other instruments at this price point, such as the Yamaha Clavinova CLP835 and Roland HP702, the CA401 features a solid wood piano keyboard which provides a remarkably realistic piano feel. With ivory and ebony feel keys to boot, the feel of the CA401 under the fingers is truly class leading.

Its main concert grand piano sample is taken from the Shigeru Kawai EX concert grand piano, reproduced using Kawai’s proprietary Progressive Harmonic Imaging sound technology, while 18 other piano and keyboard instrument voices, each with 192 note polyphony, mean that the ideal sound for your performance is always within easy reach.

Bluetooth audio and MIDI connectivity make the CA401 a useful tool for music tuition, seamlessly integrating with tuition software and streaming apps. Kawai’s own Piano Remote app offers a visual, more intuitive user interface than the slimline control panel in the left cheek-block, also displaying the huge amount of in-built repertoire.

A highly capable digital piano with a huge specification for the money, and highly recommended.

Great technological features

Another great feature of this piano is the Bluetooth Audio connectivity, allowing audio from smart devices to be played through the instrument’s speakers wirelessly. Both this feature and the Bluetooth MIDI provide ultra-low latency, strong reliability, and fantastic sound quality. The CA-401 also features great control panels with an intuitive button layout to compliment the 2.5” OLED display.

Stylish design

The CA-401’s attractive cabinet has a refined design, with comfortable pedal positioning as well as support pins for musical scores, which can be raised to hold the pages of thicker notated scores securely in place, so you can play your music without having to worry about it falling no matter how large the scorebook.

Very happy from start to finish. I did a part exchange and once I had chosen my Kawai, 3 days later it was delivered and my old piano was removed at the same time. I wanted a piano specifically to use with headphones and I am delighted with the quality of tone and touch.

Great customer service and quick delivery

Great customer service and quick delivery

The piano sales director was very helpful and knowledgeable, and gave plenty of time to try different instruments before making a choice. They were also very helpful in making sure that my requirements were met for the collection of my old instrument and delivery of the new one. The firm who collected and delivered the instruments were equally helpful and accommodating. The only slightly unexpected thing was that the Rosewood colour was darker than anticipated and was not too dissimilar from Black, however this does not detract in any way from my being extremely pleased with the instrument.
