Introducing the Cosmo Learning System

The Cosmo Learning System is an award-winning, play-centred learning and therapy tool designed for mainstream and SEND settings. It combines eight Cosmo Dots (multi-sensory, Bluetooth-enabled smart controllers) with the Cosmo App, featuring 35+ interactive activities across four curriculum-aligned Learning Suites within the app.

Co-designed with teachers and therapists, Cosmo builds cognitive, motor, social, and emotional skills through interactive play.

Each system includes all learning suites, guided activities, lifetime app access, and ongoing support.

Designed for every learner

Every Cosmo Learning System includes:

  • 8 Cosmo Dots – multi-sensory smart controllers that light up, play sounds, and respond to touch.
  • The Cosmo App (iPad) – access to all Cosmo learning suites with 35+ evidence-based, play-centred activities.
  • Guided Activities – pre-set activity modes designed to help you work toward a specific goal or outcome with your learner.
  • Lifetime access to all activities and updates (no in-app purchases or upgrades required).
  • Quick Start Guide – step-by-step setup instructions to get started in minutes.
  • Ongoing Support – continuous help, training, and resources and 2 year warranty.

All learning suites, included in one system

The Cosmo App includes a complete library of interactive activities, grouped into themed Learning Suites, each focusing on a different developmental or educational area. This gives teachers and therapists a flexible toolkit for every learner:

  • Cosmo Music Learning Suite – rhythm and sound activities that build self-expression, musical understanding, coordination and team work.
  • Cosmo Ability Learning Suite – adaptable activities supporting cognitive, motor, social, and emotional development, designed especially for SEND settings.
  • Cosmo Grow Learning Suite – progressive activities for early years and foundational education, supporting attention, social and emotional communication, early critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Cosmo Lab Learning Suite – STEM-based activities introducing core concepts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on exploration.

All learning suites are included in every Cosmo Learning System — there are no additional purchases, upgrades, or app versions required. One system, one app, all learning suites — ready to use from day one.

Using the Cosmo Learning system for music

  • Compose musical pieces: Assign notes to the Cosmoids and layer loops, allowing students to experiment with different instruments, scales and rhythm in an interactive way.
  • Play your favourite music: Enable students to play their favourite songs using our accessible media players and touch-sensitive controls.
  • Explore varied musical genres: Take turns playing instrumental loops in different genres and explore various musical instruments.
  • Use Cosmo as a MIDI controller: Connect with GarageBand, ThumbJam, and other music apps to create professional-quality sounds with a simple touch.
  • Practise transferable skills: Encourage independent exploration, teamwork and communication to create a foundation for long-life learning.
  • Personalised Experience: Customise difficulty levels, brightness and touch-sensitivity of Cosmoids to foster a student-centred learning environment.
  • Curriculum Alignment: Easily integrates with the National Curriculum, Sounds of Intent music skills framework, and Engagement Model for measurable learning outcomes.

Building musical fundamentals

The Learning System includes a variety of engaging activities designed to support musical development, creativity, and collaboration. For early learners, Exploration introduces cause-and-effect relationships by letting students control music playback simply by pressing the Cosmoids. Toggle builds on this by strengthening listening skills and reaction time as students play and pause tracks. In My Orchestra, learners collaborate to mix and match instrumental loops, creating their own ensemble and fostering both teamwork and musical creativity. Improvisation invites students to explore scales and compose melodies by assigning notes to Cosmoids, encouraging expressive and interactive play.

Real impact: How Cosmo transforms music education

Lancashire Music Service: expanding accessible music education

Currently supporting 31 SEND schools, Lancashire Music Service integrates Cosmo into their accessible instrument initiative.

"Really effective for music-making in special education settings. Supports both musical and non-musical development. The visual aspects are really compelling and very easy to set up." - Ben, Music Educator

Leicestershire Music Service: Open orchestra project

Leicestershire Music Service uses Cosmo to help students develop an understanding of cause-and-effect relationships while building their confidence in musical direction and turn-taking. Its user-friendly interface and immediate engagement have made it appealing to non-specialist teachers without formal music training.

"I love the Improvisation activity—assigning specific notes and colours that match. This has been especially useful for a visually impaired student due to the brightness and size of the devices." - Anna, SEND Music Leader

Corbets Tey School: Engaging group music-making

Corbets Tey School, a specialist SEN school in East London, utilises Cosmo in structured music sessions to facilitate engaging group music-making lessons to enhance students' listening and collaboration skills.

"Cosmo is so versatile and can be used with any age and ability across our school. The range of different activities really makes it accessible for so many of our students." - Susan Cumbers, Business Manager
