Introducing the pre-owned Fazioli F228 grand piano c.2000

Measuring 228cm or 7'6" long, the handcrafted Fazioli F228 is a stunning semi-concert grand piano, a wonderful choice of instrument for the larger auditorium or performance venue and described by Fazioli themselves as perfect for chamber music. This piano is a particularly rare find - a concert-sized performance instrument manufactured in c.2000 and privately owned from new. It is in truly remarkable condition, with very little wear on the action and gleaming cabinetry, supplied with its original cover and care pack including a key for the lock. The piano has benefited from brand new Abel hammer felts, as used by Fazioli at the time of manufacture, and is supplied having been comprehensively serviced by the UK's leading Fazioli technician.

Fazioli pianos are very special instruments indeed, produced exclusively by hand in Sacile, Northeastern Italy in extremely limited numbers of around 150 pianos per year. The attention to the most minute of details is extraordinary, from the 24-carat gold plated fittings to the poplar veneered inner rim and beautifully finished and veneered backframe. Featuring a Renner action and an Italian 'Ciresa' soundboard of specially selected white alpine spruce, the F228 is a remarkably powerful and resonant piano, with a wonderfully controlled and balanced touch, certain to perfectly convey the nuances of even the most demanding repertoire.

About Fazioli Pianoforti

Fazioli Pianos has been crafting grand and concert grand pianos since its founding in 1981 by engineer and pianist Paolo Fazioli. The company is driven by a deep passion for music, masterful craftsmanship, ongoing technological innovation, and a rigorous selection of the finest materials. Fazioli rejects mass production in favour of a fully artisanal approach, striving for uncompromised quality in every instrument.

Fazioli artists

As a testament to this, Fazioli pianos have been chosen by some of the world’s most prestigious venues, and the brand continues to build close collaborations with distinguished artists who insist on performing exclusively with Fazioli instruments. Notably, acclaimed classical pianist Angela Hewitt and jazz icon Herbie Hancock are among the many celebrated musicians who choose to play a Fazioli.

The factory

Located in Sacile in the Province of Pordenone—about 60 kilometres northeast of Venice, a region renowned for its centuries-old woodworking tradition, the Fazioli factory has an output of approximately 150 pianos per year, each one personally checked and signed off by Paolo Fazioli. The company employs around 50 highly skilled professionals, with technicians who bring exceptional expertise, dedication, and a deep awareness of contributing to the creation of an instrument that is both rare and artistically significant. The complete production process—from the initial bending of the rim to the final tuning—takes about two years, reflecting a meticulous approach that blends advanced technology with traditional craftsmanship.

Environmental impact

While committed to producing only the finest quality instruments, the company is also very environmentally aware, with their own solar energy making up a third of all power used at the manufacturing facility. This alone saves one ton of carbon dioxide for each piano produced, approximately 150 tons per year, and emissions are constantly monitored to ensure they are as low as possible. The wood used in crafting Fazioli pianos is sourced exclusively from certified suppliers committed to environmentally responsible practices. The company also holds the internationally recognized ISO-9001 quality certification, ensuring the highest standards in its production processes.
