Introducing the Suzuki Ultra Bend 10-hole diatonic harmonica

The Suzuki SUB30 Ultra-Bend is a groundbreaking harmonica that pushes the boundaries of traditional diatonic playing. Thanks to Suzuki’s advanced reed-plate technology, this harmonica packs 30 reeds into the compact size of a standard 10-hole harmonica – 20 on the top reed plate and 10 on the lower. This unique design introduces sympathetic reeds, expanding your playing range and making the Ultra Bend an incredibly versatile instrument.

Groundbreaking design for expanded range

The addition of 10 extra reeds allows you to easily bend the bottom 6 blow notes and the upper 4 draw notes using the same controllable technique as standard bends. This groundbreaking feature transforms your diatonic harmonica into a chromatic instrument, unlocking notes that were previously unreachable on a traditional harp. The Ultra-Bend gives you unprecedented flexibility, offering new possibilities for harmonica players of all levels.

Unlock new tonal possibilities

Whether you’re playing blues, jazz, or experimenting with new techniques, the Ultra-Bend opens up a world of expressive possibilities. With just a simple bend, you can access a wider tonal range than ever before, making it a must-have for advanced players seeking more control and dynamic expression in their music.

Built for flexibility and durability

The Ultra-Bend harmonica is built to last, with chrome-plated brass cover plates and phosphor bronze reeds that ensure long-lasting performance. The ABS comb enhances durability while maintaining an airtight seal, ensuring smooth playability every time you pick up the instrument.

Perfect for advanced players

The Suzuki Ultra-Bend is designed for musicians who demand versatility and precision. Its innovative design and expanded range make it a top choice for harmonica players looking to push their playing to new limits and explore chromatic-style phrasing with a diatonic instrument.

How are Suzuki harmonicas labelled?

When choosing a harmonica, it’s important to know how the key is labelled—and Suzuki makes it simple. Unlike some brands that label their instruments by the second position (often used for blues), Suzuki harmonicas are labelled according to the first position, also known as straight harp. This means the key printed on the harmonica is the key you get when playing melodies in first position. The handy table below shows you the corresponding keys for playing in each position. For example, if you want to play in the key of C in second position (C mixolydian), you need an F harmonica.

  • First position - standard major scale, ideal for folk melodies and simple pop songs
  • Second position - mixolydian mode, perfect for the blues
  • Third position - dorian mode, lending a darker, minor soundscape
