The Howarth mini-bassoon plus+ outfit has been designed specifically for the younger player. It is smaller and lighter than a standard bassoon - the Howarth Academy bassoon model is 3.2kg in weight, the Mini-bassoon outfit only 1.05kg.
It features a much refined bore design, including down-bore and finger holes which are lined with ebonite. The instrument sounds a 5th higher than a standard bassoon but includes keywork much like more advanced models which creates an easy transition as the player progresses. An attractive look is ensured by the matured mountain maple body, with a durable matte finish and synthetic lacquer. Easier fingering is promoted with an automatic F-F# link on butt and an F-Ab roller, helping to make this a perfect learning instrument for budding bassoonists.
