Just a few weeks before his death, Mozart completed one of his most popular solo concertos. He had composed it especially for his friend and clarinetist Anton Stadler, who himself was working on the further development of the instrument, which was still in its infancy. With his Clarinet Concerto, Mozart delivered one of the first and most enduring works of this genre.
