Blackmagic URSA Studio Viewfinder G2
The Blackmagic URSA Studio Viewfinder G2 is an essential tool for transforming your camera setup into a professional studio camera. With a large 7-inch display, this viewfinder is perfect for tripod-mounted studio camera use, offering a truly immersive experience. Designed to be fully adjustable, it includes a large tally light and easy-to-access controls, making it an indispensable accessory for live production environments.
Easy Mounting and Flexibility
The Blackmagic URSA Studio Viewfinder G2 uses a standard V-Lock mount for easy attachment to your camera. Whether mounted to the camera body or the top of the SMPTE fibre converter, it’s quick to set up and secure. The viewfinder features a bright 7-inch 2,000 nit display, and its grip handles make it easy to position independently of the camera, even when the camera is on air. The mount allows for both tilting and rotating, with adjustable tension knobs to ensure the perfect angle and stability.
Sunshade and Outdoor Use
For outdoor filming in bright conditions, the URSA Studio Viewfinder G2 includes a metal sunshade that can be easily removed when not required. The sunshade ensures visibility even under intense sunlight, allowing you to maintain clear, sharp viewing of your shot regardless of the lighting environment.
Precise Controls for Perfect Focus
The viewfinder offers physical controls for adjusting framing and focus features. With the menu dial, you can scroll through settings, while the three knobs on the right side of the viewfinder allow for smooth adjustments to LCD brightness, contrast, and focus peaking. The focus peaking control makes it easy to maintain focus at any zoom setting, ensuring that every shot is sharp. Plus, three customizable function buttons let you quickly access features like zebra, false colour, focus peaking, luminance waveform, and LUTs.
Advanced Tally Light System
The rear of the URSA Studio Viewfinder G2 features a large tally light, which illuminates red for on-air, green for preview, and orange for ISO recording. As the director cuts between cameras on the ATEM switcher, tally information is sent back to the camera over SDI, automatically lighting up the tally light when the camera is on air. The large, bright tally light is highly visible even from a distance, ensuring that presenters can easily see which camera is active. Customisable clip-on number decals are included for clear camera identification.
SDI Integration for Seamless Control
With its SDI control protocol, the URSA Studio Viewfinder G2 offers seamless integration with Blackmagic’s camera and switcher systems. The SDI protocol allows for the transmission of tally, talkback, and other camera control information directly through the program return feed. This open standard control system enables easy customisation of solutions for your entire Blackmagic production setup.
