The Hiscox OCW-STD is fundamentally the same product as the as the Hiscox OCO-STD cello case
with a couple of important differences. This model has two strong built in wheels along with a large carry handle situated on the back of the case which makes it an awful lot easier to move than the non-wheeled model. The wheels are produced very well too so dragging it along the pavement presents no problems at all.
This wheeled version is built from the same 'Liteflite double molded construction' method which utilises a strong, textured ABS outer which is then bonded to an inner molding of cellular foam. The outside is strong and comparatively scratch resistant whilst in the cellular foam provides a strong but very lightweight inner layer that absorbs impact which in turn protects your cello. Whilst this cello case is incredibly light it is worth noting that the case is a little heavier than the OCO-STD case but only because of the added handle and wheels.
The interior is produced from a high quality velour which is designed to provide a snug fit for your cello to prevent movement inside the case. This is a generic full size case of course, so it is possibly worth double checking the size if you happen to have an over-sized instrument - one based on the Montagnana for example. Most full sized cellos will be fine though.
The case fits together securely, both halves of the case have an aluminium outer rim which fits together when the case is closed and is affixed with 8 strong clips which are riveted to the case itself. The flat bottom of the case, even though it has wheels, does ensure that the case stands securely upright.
