The Paxman Academy Series PAX-AC compensating double F/Bb horn outfit is the perfect stepping-stone to a full double horn.
What is a compensating horn?A compensating horn is essentially halfway between a single and a double French horn. It is made up of a single horn at Bb pitch with an extra valve (four in total) which allows the notes down to an F pitch to be reached through downward transposition.
It is a great intermediate instrument which is suitable for students from beginner level to grades 5-6. One main improvement that Paxman have made to this horn over the years is that the tubing layout and the thumb lever have been modified to make the hand-hold comfortable and the 4th valve useable by any size of hand.
The PAX-AC compensation double French horn comes complete with a mouthpiece and a case that provides great protection.
