Info Full description
Owing to the relatively low demand for double reed instruments, there are no established mass production techniques for manufacturing bassoons meaning every one must be made by hand. As it's also the largest of the standard orchestral wind instruments, and impossible to construct from cheap materials, even entry level instruments are normally prohibitively expensive. However, thanks to some expert designers at John Packer there is now a good quality affordable option on the market, and with the Take it Away finance scheme it's possible to get hold of one immediately.

The JP191MKII is the perfect student bassoon, built to ensure a smooth learning experience for players of all ages. Durable silver plated keywork is laid out in the popular short reach design to suit small hands while keeping all the range and functionality of a full sized instrument. Now in its second generation, the latest improvements to its intonation and tone mean it can now realistically compete with instruments that cost twice as much.

Its beautiful lacquered maple body is fitted with an adjustable spike and balancing arm and dismantles into four sections. As with all John Packer outfits, the bassoon is supplied with a lightweight moulded case with a hard shell, and thanks to the redesigned bell, the case is smaller and less cumbersome than the previous model. The outfit also includes two bocals (or crooks) and a reed so it can be played straight out of the box!
