This is the top of the range Hiscox cello hard case. It features a deluxe interior and built in wheels for ease of movement.
Hiscox cello cases are popular here at Chamberlain music and we try to keep a good selection on display. This model is fundamentally the same as all others, but it does feature a couple of important variations.
Firstly it is the 'deluxe model'. It has a significantly more padded interior than the standard version although produced from the same quality crushed velour. This helps reduce movement inside the case, which protects the cello, providing a snug overall fit. It also features hand stitched leather handles which on top of being more comfortable to hold are also very long lasting, Secondly, the case also has solid, hard wearing built-in wheels which enable the instrument to be pulled along with ease making the whole thing much easier to move. Ideal for running down train platforms or when trying to catch the bus.
This case is constructed using the unique 'liteflite' construction method. The outside is thick, textured and molded plastic which is scratch resistant and unbelievably tough. This is then wedded to an inner molding of cellular foam which not only absorbs impact, meaning the case takes the brunt of a knock rather than the cello inside, but is also a very lightweight material to use. Bear in mind that carbon fiber is without a doubt the lightest material to use, but costs nearly three times as much as this model. It does make the Hiscox range of cases look like very good value indeed.
This is a generic case which is built to house all full size cellos. Whilst most modern cellos use the Stradivari design, it is worth pointing out that if you happen to have an oversize instrument it would be worth checking the fit before committing to a purchase. With that in mind we do keep a selection of cases in-store for trial but would also be happy to assist over the telephone with measurements should you be at all concerned about size.
All in all, good value, very strong and reasonably light-weight too - highly recommended!
