What we think of the Yamaha GC1 grand pianoThe GC1 grand piano is the most obvious 'upgrade' from the Yamaha GB1 grand piano. At 5'3'' the instrument is larger, and this alone is enough to give the instrument more depth, especially in the lower registers. However, Yamaha also incorporate a host of more refined design changes in this model. The GC1 benefits from 'duplex scaling' which is a method of bringing out a fuller tone from a piano by tuning what are known as the 'non-speaking' parts of the string. The GC1 is also the first in the Yamaha grand piano range to be made at the main production facility in Japan.
Based on the well regarded Yamaha C1M grand but with a much smaller price tag, it makes for an excellent value alternative to a C series piano. A new GC1M is certainly worth considering if you want a better piano than the GB1 but your budget won't quite stretch to a C1X.
