Both the FGX and FSX 820 models are manufactured with a solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides. The mahogany back and sides are a refreshing choice of wood due to the mid-range tones the wood naturally produces, making it a different beast entirely to its brothers and sisters.
This combined with the newly developed scalloped bracing across the whole FG/FS/FGX/FSX range, which adds a fatter low end, creates a well-rounded sounding instrument that can be deemed more versatile. The scalloped bracing also enhances the general tone, projection and volume when played acoustically.
The electronics featured within the guitars are an updated under-saddle SRT-Piezo pick-up alongside the System66 analogue pre-amp (the main pickup in the APX range). Combined, these have been updated to offer an improved overall sound quality.
Controls include: 3-Band EQ, an adjustable mid-range frequency control, precise chromatic tuner and main volume control.
The electronics have been changed from a standard 9V battery to be able to run on 2 x AA batteries (included)
