The Yamaha YAS280 student alto saxophone is the most reliable, well engineered and popular student saxophones currently on the market. For a student instrument it is also one of the most expensive.
The Yamaha YAS280 is an update of the wildly popular Yamaha YAS275 model, and for the new instrument the design has been refreshed and now benefits from a sturdier neck receiver and a better keywork connection between the low B and C#.
Low notes on saxophones are some of the more tricky sounds to produce accurately, as the extremities are on any instrument, but this improved keywork helps produce a clean and accurate note.
The YAS280 is beautifully produced. It has a sturdy well designed body which offers little resistance, making the instrument very free blowing, and is also comparatively lightweight. The gold lacquer is incredibly well applied which gives a smooth and clean finish.
They key work is so ergonomically designed the relevant notes simply appear to fall under the fingers. This model benefits from an adjustable thumb hook which makes finding the right playing position dead easy.
It is an instrument which we always try to keep in stock. The demand for it, both to be purchase and rented is huge and the higher price tag can, in some cases, save you money as it negates the need to choose an intermediate instrument before progressing onto something more professional in specification. The used value of this instruments is also stable so upgrading is always easy and second hand values are reasonably high.
The instrument includes the well known 4C mouthpiece, ligature, sling and cleaning materials and is presented in a solid, well made case which has a large pocket for sheet music and other accessories.
