Excellent service from Chamberlain Music, delivered next day. The quality of the recorder is first class, I can't fault it and it sounds very good, as good as much more expensive ABS plastic...

Universally praised for their tonal range and effortless playability, the TRBX basses are the latest affordable Yamaha range to take the market by storm.

The TRBX304 is a standard 4-string bass that has been specifically designed for playing comfort and versatility. Its mahogany body has been carefully contoured to reduce weight while maintaining a sleek modern look and comfortable shape. Playing is made easy by the super-smooth neck whose 5-piece composite construction also adds strength and looks great.

Several precisely engineered areas are worthy of note including the heavy-duty die-cast bridge which is designed for optimum string spacing and vibration, and set very close to the bottom of the body for perfect distribution of weight. There's also the durable plate-mounted jack socket and, at the other end of the instrument, the tuning pegs which are positioned to ensure a completely straight string from head to nut to bridge, reducing lateral tension to improve intonation and tuning reliability.

By far the biggest selling point is the tonal range - for the price, you won't find a more versatile instrument. Two ceramic humbucking pickups with large exposed poles capture the full warmth of the mahogany body with no extraneous noise, and this fundamental tone can be manipulated using what is essentially a sweepable EQ - bass, treble, and pickup balance. On top of this, the bass also features a 5-way preset switch which gives instant access to the perfect tone for slap, pick, flat, finger, and solo playing.

Here's a video from Yamaha with Miki Santamaria showing off the preset sounds:
