The Trevor James TJ3822G classic II has for a while been very popular among beginner saxophonists. Free blowing, well built and affordable, it is an instrument which bridges the gap between the cheaper modern models and the better established, more expensive brands such as Yamaha and Jupiter.
Trevor James are specialist suppliers of brass and woodwind instruments and are still a relatively small company that care enormously about their products and customers. They emphasise that this instrument is incredibly free blowing – an important feature when it comes to student saxophones. This means that it is comparatively easy for the novice to produce a sound, providing that much needed encouragement.
Speaking about the Classic II range, Trevor James claim that their aim ‘was to design and manufacture a new range of saxophones to fit into the distinctive, reasonably priced, student saxophone category without compromising quality.' They have done this extremely successfully, and the Trevor James II saxophone is widely recommended by teachers.
The instrument features a recently updated crook design with high quality Pisoni pads with metal reflectors (sometimes referred to as resonators). It has good solid build quality and produces a lovely resonant sound. It is made from brass and finished in an attractive gold lacquer.
This instrument comes as an outfit which includes a contoured canvas case with a moulded interior and separate rucksack style straps for ease of transport. Also included are a Vandoren reed, padded neck strap, mouthpiece, cork grease, mouthpiece cap and ligature. All of our wood wind instruments are set-up by our technicians prior to despatch, so your instrument is ready to be played straight from the box.
This is an ideal purchase for a beginner tenor saxophonist or for an experienced player looking for an affordable doubling instrument.
It is an ideal, quality, instrument for the beginner and is also available for hire on our Instrument Rental Scheme
