Stentor’s conservatoires are carved from selected solid tone woods to provide the player with the best possible tonal quality. The top is carved from from solid spruce, while the back and ribs are crafted from solid maple. This combination of solid tone woods creates a warm and accurate resonance that is difficult to emulate on a viola which is composed from laminated wood. The Student II’s matching ebony pegs and fingerboard provide excellent form and stability which is crucial when learning on a new instrument. Like all of Stentor’s student models, the Student II features inlaid purfling for a classic traditional appearance, in addition to protecting the body of the violin from minor bumps and cracks.
The Student II is fitted with flexible core strings and a durable composite tailpiece with lightweight integral adjusters, which simplifies the tuning process without adding unnecessary weight to the instrument.
This viola comes supplied as a complete outfit with a lightweight, shaped case, carrying strap and rosin. A robust wooden bow is includedt, with ebony frog, natural white horsehair and a high-quality screw, eye and ferrule. The Stentor Student II is available from a 12" to a 16".
