The Stentor Student I is one of our most popular student violins. Produced using solid tone woods and benefiting from individual hand shaping and finishing it is easy to play and makes for a trouble free student instrument. Stentor student violins in general produce a much nicer sound than other economy violins which may be constructed using composite woods or laminate tops.
The violin has a blackened rosewood fingerboard with rosewood pegs with an adjustable nylon tailgut and Teka patterm wood chin rest.
Each Stentor Student 1 violin is set up by our onsite string technician prior to despatch to ensure that your new violin is playable straight from the box.
This violin is supplied as an outfit which comprises a lightweight case with fitted interior and carrying straps with natural horsehair bow and rosin.
The name ‘Stentor’ has been known to orchestral string players and teachers for over a century. Edward C. Doughty, a professor of music and teacher of the violin, registered the name in 1895 for his company that manufactured and sold gut violin strings and rosin.
Now the company is thriving. Since 1960, one million young musicians have begun their careers with a Stentor instruments. They are now heralded as the premier wholesale distributor of acoustic musical instruments in Britain. In 1995 they opened their first wholly-owned subsidiary factory in Taixing where they employ local skilled workers to make violins, cellos and other stringed instruments. The finished products are shipped to thirty countries and receive excellent reviews from teachers worldwide, naming them the best ‘budget’ student instruments on the market.
