This British made cello hard case is produced by Hiscox, a bespoke UK based company who specialise in quality hard cases. This particular model could be considered as 'top of the range'.
The ivory colour helps reduce heat retention inside the case, making it about 15% cooler inside than the equivalent case in black. Cellos, being instruments which are entirely made of wood, are sensitive to temperature change so this is particularly useful for hot and stuffy environments - like tube stations or rehearsal rooms in the summer!
The case has what Hiscox call their 'deluxe' interior. This essentially means that the interior has more padding than the already excellent standard case. The padding is produced from crushed velour which holds the cello tightly in place to provide maximum protection.
The built in wheels are a very useful extra. This enables your cello to be safely dragged along pathway, pavement or platform - the wheels are very strong too so longevity is guaranteed!
The overall build of the case is of the 'liteflite' double construction method. This uses extremely hard wearing ABS molded plastic for the outer shell which is then put together with an internal molded shell, this time made from 'cellular foam'. The combination of the two provides unrivaled protection for your cello - The outside is scratch resistant and nearly impossible to dent, the internal section is lightweight whilst able to absorb impact - a powerful combination.
The case is very secure when closed - 8 individual metal clips which are riveted to the case itself hold it shut with your cello safely inside.
It is worth noting that this is a case designed to fit most cellos and it is true that we have yet to supply one and have the cello not fit. However, if you do happen to have an over-sized cello it would be worth checking. To that end we always try to keep stock in our Haslemere showroom available to try.
A great value case and very popular.
