The ocarina is a great starter instrument as it is small and has finger holes close together. This makes it perfect for little fingers to start playing music before they can physically handle a recorder.
It is pitched in D with a full chromatic, 1 octave range this is a surprisingly versatile little instrument.
Made from impact resistant plastic so you do not have to worry if you drop it.
Jon, primary education specialist, reviewed the OC-OR ocarina on 25th January 2016:
Ocarinas are available in a surprising number of shapes, although the one we have here is certainly the most common and easy to hold. It creates an almost haunting tone, soft and flute like. You do not need much puff so its ideal for younger players. In fact primary schools are taking advantage of the overall value and purchasing classroom sets. They really are jolly easy to play with a less harsh tone than a recorder. Brilliant!
